Project Overview
Yangmingshan Private Residence
Located in Yangmingshan, Taipei, this project transforms a private residence originally built over half a century ago. Meshrōm used large-scale 3D printing to create a series of one-of-a-kind organic planters for the second-floor terrace.
Positioned alongside a glass balustrade, the planters are experienced from multiple perspectives — from the terrace itself and from the ground floor looking upwards. This led us to develop two distinct design languages within each piece: flowing organic surfaces facing the terrace, responding to the planting, and structured vertical lines on the reverse, creating a more architectural expression when viewed from below.
The freedom of 3D printing allows a single object to respond differently to multiple viewpoints, while giving each planter its own unique geometry.
The planters are manufactured in PETG-GF, a glass-fibre reinforced PETG, selected for its structural stability and weather resistance in outdoor environments — allowing digital fabrication to become an integral part of the architecture.
